OUR STORY
Blackbird Acres is a conglomeration of a love for flowers, growing, beauty, learning, planning, challenge, and independence. My name is Rebecca, and I love the journey to producing fresh flowers! In my previous jobs, I have been surrounded by organic farming, and learned about the business side of things in college. That, combined with help from my family, especially my mom, and my husband, Dane, is what makes our many varieties of fresh and colorful flowers possible!
ABOUT BLACKBIRD ACRES
Our flowers are both greenhouse and field grown in sunny Southern Alberta. The greenhouse is planted in early April, meaning flowers are available from about mid-May to the end of October! In 2023, we grew about 15 varieties of flowers for home and professional chefs.
ORGANICALLY GROWN, FRESH, & LOCAL
Three things we love! Growing organically is a lifestyle for us, and we view the land as borrowed from our children not inherited from our parents. This means the flowers are grown pesticide free, the soil health is maintained with compost, manure, or cover crops, and the weeds are pulled by hand! To get our fresh flowers from garden to table, we use the most environmentally friendly packaging we can source and pick flowers early in the morning.
